In my line of work, being versatile is not just a flex, it’s a requirement. As someone who has spent most of my career in small teams, where I was the only digital marketer, I learned quickly how to split between roles and consistently acquire knowledge so I can better serve the companies I find myself in.
I started as a Content Intern for Scooper, assisting the lifestyle editor in writing articles for their large reader base. During my time there, I earned the title of Scooper’s Most Read Intern, an A-grade score and collaborated with my editor to create 50 Shades of Jane, a web series with over 2,000 readers.
Next, I moved to MyJobMag, where I got my first real experience with SEO and Google Analytics. I worked as an SEO Content Writer, writing career articles for their South African website, where I had an article first displayed on the first page of Google.
Markets. NG, I played the role of a Business Developer and Content Marketer. As the only one on the team with content marketing experience, I assisted with social media management, email marketing, messaging, and writing copy for their Google Display Ads.
In 2021, I took a break from living in Lagos and moved to Ibadan, where I served for a year as a News Reporter for the Nigerian Tribune.
After Tribune, I took a full-time role with Owlya. Here, I was a Lead Content Strategist, who wore many hats. I was an Email Marketer, Social Media Manager, Graphic Designer, and Software Tester.
